This is Yuan Mountain, which is also known as Vulture Mountain, one of Taiwan’s “100 Little Peaks.” The entrance to the trail leading up Yuan Mountain is 100 meters from the historical street, and from there the moderate climb to the well-known copper bell on the mountainside takes about an hour. The bell, which is also known as “Guangfu Bell,” is a popular tourist attraction. On the way there are many places for hikers to take a break and soak in the view. Off in the distance is Yingge, and on a clear day one can even see all the way to downtown Taoyuan. Two of the most popular months to visit are April and May because at this time you can also admire tung blossoms and fireflies. |
